No seasoned off-road enthusiast is unfamiliar with the Ford Bronco. Boasting robust off-road performance, rugged vehicle traits, and extensive modification potential, it has long been a "Dream Car" for countless off-road fans. Recently, the Ford Bronco has been making notable moves: it officially teased all-electric and plug-in hybrid variants a while back, and now, sources from the official channel confirm that the Ford Bronco Retro Edition will kick off pre-sales on the 16th of this month. So, what makes this new model stand out?
First, in terms of exterior design, the Ford Bronco Retro Edition retains the overall styling of the current on-sale model. Its boxy body shape, paired with round retro-inspired headlights, ensures exceptional recognition. The key differentiators lie in its exclusive details: it adopts a blue-and-white two-tone body color scheme. The large front grille features an oval hollow matrix pattern finished in white, while the front brand emblem comes in a red finish.
Moving to the body, the Retro Edition sports a white-painted roof. The high-positioned body character lines and the lower sections of the doors are accented with matching white stripes. Unlike the standard model's black wheels, this variant gets white retro-styled rims paired with AT tires. Additionally, the suspension system has been upgraded, resulting in a noticeably higher ride height compared to the standard Bronco.
The rear end remains consistent with the current model's design, keeping the external spare tire and side-hinged tailgate. The external spare tire is also fitted with rims that match the body's style and color scheme.
In fact, the Ford Bronco Retro Edition is largely a derivative of the Great Sand Dune Limited Custom Edition launched earlier this year. For reference, the Great Sand Dune Limited Custom Edition comes equipped with the H.O.S.S. 3.0 BAJA suspension system, 2.5-inch FOX internal bypass nitrogen shock absorbers, and front/rear coil springs.
Also for reference, the Ford Bronco Great Sand Dune Limited Custom Edition measures 4825/2070/1990mm (length/width/height) with a wheelbase of 2950mm.
Ford has not yet revealed the interior design of the Bronco Retro Edition. However, it is highly likely that the new model will retain the overall interior layout of the current on-sale version, with potential differences in interior color schemes and embroidered details. For context, the current Bronco's interior features abundant rectangular shapes and straight lines. The symmetrical dashboard houses a 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster and a 12-inch central control screen, powered by the 8155 chip. It supports wireless smartphone integration and voice interaction. The roof is equipped with aircraft lever-style expansion switches, perfectly aligning with its rugged off-road identity.
Under the hood, the domestic Ford Bronco is powered by a 2.3T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 202kW and a peak torque of 429N·m, mated to a 10AT transmission. Depending on the trim level, it also offers off-road-exclusive features such as front and rear differential locks and an intelligent anti-roll bar disconnection system.
