The JETOUR Traveler, the first rugged-style SUV launched by the JETOUR brand under Chery Group, has quickly become a market dark horse since its release in September 2023. With its "light off-road" positioning and exceptional cost-performance ratio, this model blends urban comfort with mild off-road capability. Not only does it break the traditional price barrier of rugged SUVs with a competitive price range of 139,900 to 239,900 RMB, but it also showcases the innovative strength of Chinese brands in niche markets through its continuously iterating product features.

The design language of the JETOUR Traveler is a textbook interpretation of the "boxy" style. Its mech-inspired front end, characterized by straight lines, pairs seamlessly with matrix-style LED headlights. Although positioned as a "light off-road" vehicle, the JETOUR Traveler’s XWD full-automatic intelligent four-wheel-drive system showcases impressive hardcore capabilities. The system achieves millisecond-level responses through a central intelligent torque distributor and a rear axle differential lock. With a 28° approach angle, 30° departure angle, and a 700mm wading depth, it effortlessly handles complex terrains such as cross-axles and bomb craters. The newly introduced 2.0TGDI Kunpeng power version (254 horsepower / 390Nm) in the 2024 model further enhances off-road confidence. The 7DCT transmission, specially calibrated, features a low-speed torque amplification function, achieving an astonishing crawl ratio of 39.35:1. Notably, its intelligent crawl mode can automatically recognize slope gradients through radar, enabling 0-15km/h autonomous off-road recovery. This fusion of traditional mechanics and electronic intelligence marks a new direction for domestic off-road technology.

The JETOUR Traveler is finely tuned for the target user's "90% city + 10% off-road" usage scenario. Its 15.6-inch central touchscreen, powered by the 8155 chip, supports full vehicle FOTA upgrades. The L2.5-level intelligent driving assistance system includes practical features such as automatic parking and a 50-meter tracking reverse function. The NVH engineering team has gone to great lengths, using triple-layered soundproof glass and silent tires, to reduce highway wind noise to under 67 decibels—far surpassing the standard for rugged SUVs in the same class. What's even more impressive is its fuel efficiency: the 1.5T version boasts a WLTC combined fuel consumption of just 8.83L/100km, while the 2.0T model stays below 10L, completely shattering the stereotype of rugged SUVs as "fuel guzzlers."

4. Differentiated User Ecosystem Construction

JETOUR understands that "playability is product strength," and has created a comprehensive ecosystem matrix around the Traveler. The official custom modification packages include six styles such as the Jungle Explorer Edition and Desert Knight Edition, with users able to directly purchase professional off-road kits via the "JETOUR APP." Collaborations with outdoor brands like Pathfinders and Mugaodi offer camping kits, including rooftop tents, foldable tables, and chairs, providing a one-stop "factory-modified" experience. In a unique move, JETOUR also launched the "Travel+" user platform, regularly organizing activities such as the Ulan Buh Snowfield crossing and Alashan Desert Challenge. By April 2025, it had established 327 car owner clubs. This community-driven strategy has resulted in an impressive user loyalty rate of 62%, far exceeding the industry average.

The JETOUR Traveler achieved over 10,000 sales in its first month, quickly capturing 23% of the 150,000 RMB off-road SUV market. In 2024, its annual sales surpassed 130,000 units, making it the second best-selling domestic off-road model, only behind the Tank 300. According to the latest data for January to April 2025, the hybrid version now accounts for 35% of total sales, highlighting the market potential for new-energy off-road vehicles. The used car market has also performed remarkably well, with a 78.5% residual value after one year, setting a new record for domestic rugged SUVs. Behind this strong sales performance is the growing demand among China's young consumers for a "light adventure" lifestyle. It also reflects JETOUR's successful capture of the Generation Z consumer mindset—seeking both adventure and practicality in their purchases.

6. The Future Evolution Potential

According to Chery's official announcements, the hydrogen-powered version of the Traveler has entered road testing and is expected to begin mass production in 2026. The current model will soon receive an OTA update, introducing an "Off-road Expert Mode," with features such as altitude slope display and off-road trajectory recording. Even more exciting is the plug-in hybrid version, which will have a pure electric range exceeding 200 km and support 6kW external power supply. These upgrades are directly aligned with the core needs of outdoor scenarios in the new energy era.

With JETOUR set to launch the development of right-hand drive models for overseas markets in 2025, the Traveler, a quintessential example of Chinese manufacturing, may soon expand its reach to Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
