When it comes to modifying a car, it feels just like renovating one's old house. I originally just wanted to simply paint the wall, but it just got out of hand. Take my Tank 300 for example. From an ordinary plain bike to now being fully equipped, every step of the modification has its own story behind it.
The decision to modify the vehicle was not made on a whim. At first, it was just for good looks. Later, after running it many times, it was gradually upgraded step by step in terms of off-road performance, storage space, practicality for going out and playing, and so on.
Let's start with the appearance. Although the square box shape is classic and enduring, it always seems to lack a bit of individuality. Looking around, everything looks more or less the same. And every time we go camping, when we have a lot of equipment, the trunk becomes a disaster scene, in a complete mess. So, the matter of modification has to be carried out step by step, and the most practical problems should be solved first.
The roof platform is provided by the factory, but I added an AW side tent on the side. This side tent has a quite large unfolded area. I used it when I went camping with friends last year. When set up, it can cover a large area and is very practical.
And regarding the trunk rack, this is one of the small changes I'm most proud of. The original trunk was just a huge empty shell, with everything piled up together. Even looking for an air pump could drive one crazy. Now that this shelf has been added, it's as if a "second floor" has been forcibly separated. The upper layer can hold folding tables, chairs and stoves, while the lower layer can be used to store sleeping bags and food boxes. The best part is that a groove is specially left on the side of the shelf, and the air pump can be precisely inserted. When inflating, there's no need to rummaged through boxes and cabinets anymore. It's really much more convenient.
I also installed a water tank at the rear of the left side of the car. There is a lock in the middle. Open this one and the water tank can be removed.
The changes in appearance are actually quite obvious. In the previous post, what everyone saw was a vehicle in the middle stage of renovation, with the words "Fenglin Iron Cavalry" written on it. Later, the stickers were changed to a new set, which is the one shown in the picture now.
There's another small item that must be praised, which is the shovel hanging on the spare tire. It's really useful when you get stuck in a car while out playing. The storage box on the spare tire is fixed to the spare tire with straps. It is estimated that there are only a few such designs across the country. I also added a shock absorber to the tire, so it no longer makes a "clank" sound when going over speed bumps.
Of course, I only wrote about part of the modifications above. All in all, the total cost of this modification was around 100,000 yuan. Now, I personally think every aspect of this car is quite perfect. I should continue to modify it in the future. Aesthetics are changing, the products under development are also evolving, and there is no end to modification.
In conclusion, the Tank 300 excels in off-road capabilities and has impressive modification potential, making it well-suited for various off-road adventures, from light trail rides to more challenging terrain exploration. Of course, considering its comprehensive performance, the Tank 300 comes at a reasonable price point that balances cost and capability. If you're an off-road enthusiast who enjoys both weekend getaways to rough landscapes and occasional tough off-road trips, this model is definitely a great choice. However, if you mainly use it for daily urban commuting, with only rare visits to the outskirts for casual drives, the Tank 300 still stands out—it offers far more than basic needs, combining practicality with a rugged charm that appeals to many.
