The production version of the Ford Bronco has made its official debut, positioned as a mid-size SUV with hardcore off-road attributes. It adopts a body-on-frame structure. It is reported that the new vehicle will launch at least six trim levels, including the Badlands and Everglades editions, powered by a 2.3T engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The new Bronco is scheduled to officially launch at the Beijing Auto Show this April.
The overall exterior design of the new model remains largely consistent with the overseas version. The front end features a square and retro styling, paired with round LED headlamp clusters that integrate with the front grille to form a unified structure. The brand logo merges with LED light strips extending from the headlamp clusters on both sides, creating a through-type design that further enhances the vehicle's recognisability. Additionally, the front bumper styling may vary slightly depending on the trim level.
The new vehicle will offer five body color options: Panther Black, Crystal Pearl White, TERRAIN Sand Dune White, Cactus Grey, and Vapor Blue.
On the side, the new model features a boxy body shape with a two-tone design where the roof and body are different colors. The front and rear fenders are equipped with wide wheel arches that protrude beyond the body, paired with 17-inch high-gloss black aluminum beadlock wheels and Goodyear LT315/70/R17 35-inch OD mud-terrain tires. In terms of dimensions, the new vehicle measures 4825/2070/1990mm (L/W/H) with a wheelbase of 2950mm.
At the rear, the new model is equipped with an external spare tire and vertically arranged taillight clusters. The rear bumper is robust and wide, giving the entire vehicle a solid appearance when combined with other elements. Furthermore, the new vehicle has towing certification, with a factory-installed/optional rear towing device, and the maximum total mass of the approved trailer is 1500Kg. It is worth mentioning that the new vehicle will also have a 38-degree approach angle and a 31-degree departure angle.
The interior of the new model is equipped with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The center console features a 12-inch embedded multimedia display. Additionally, the center console design combines retro and technological elements, with a large number of physical function buttons complementing the large screen, creating a very appealing visual effect.
The new vehicle will be equipped with the EMOD intelligent full-time four-wheel drive system, dual differential locks, front anti-roll bar disconnect function, G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) intelligent terrain management system, etc. The G.O.A.T. intelligent terrain management system can intelligently switch between different off-road modes according to the off-road scenario, including the BAJA mode. The G.O.A.T. mode intervenes in modules such as ESP, differential locks, anti-roll bars, TCU, and ECU, and offers Eco Mode, Sport Mode, BAJA Mode, Slippery Mode, Rock Crawl Mode, Mud Mode, and Sand Mode.
In terms of technological configurations, the new vehicle is equipped with 8 ultrasonic radars, 5 high-definition cameras, and 3 millimeter-wave radars; the infotainment system uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, supporting functions such as ACC adaptive cruise control, TSR traffic sign recognition, and BLIS blind spot monitoring system.
It is worth noting that the domestic Bronco will also launch the Everglades Edition (Swamp Edition). This edition will have superior off-road capabilities, such as a 45-degree approach angle and a 37-degree departure angle; front overhang length of 805mm, rear overhang length of 1070mm; this edition is also equipped with a snorkel, Goodyear LT315/70 R17 off-road tires, a roof rack, exclusive badges on the front fenders, and an optional rear towing device.
The new vehicle will be powered by a 2.3T turbocharged four-cylinder engine (code-named CAF488WQGK), with a maximum power of 202 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 429 Newton-meters. The transmission system will be matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission. In terms of the chassis, it adopts a front double wishbone/rear five-link suspension.
