HANTOUR:Comparison Report between Mercedes Vito And V260

Everyone who likes Mercedes-Benz MPVs knows that while the Vito and the V260 may look similar on the outside, there's a world of difference in their value.

Many buyers can't help but wonder: What exactly accounts for the nearly 200,000 RMB price gap between them?

Today, we’ll clear up that confusion by answering a common question:
"If you remove the rear model badges (Vito/V260), how can you correctly tell them apart?"

To make the comparison easier to understand and remember, we’ve selected two sample vehicles — a black Vito and a white V260L — to highlight the key differences in a straightforward way.

To begin with, the chassis, exterior dimensions, and powertrain systems of these two models are largely similar, so we will not go into detail on those aspects here. If you wish to learn more about the technical specifications, feel free to contact the official customer service line of “RV Home” listed at the end of this article.

Looking at the rear structure, the Vito lacks several design and functional elements found on the V260:

No LED tail lights

No rear chrome trim

The rear bumper design also differs significantly

It’s important to note that for both the Vito and the V260, the wheel rim size and design can be freely customized or replaced, so wheels should not be used as a basis for distinguishing between the two models.

After reviewing the rear, let’s move on to the front. The most obvious differences between the Vito and V260L front ends are the front bumper and the grille design (as shown in the image).

In addition, the V260 is equipped with full LED “fox-eye” headlights, which give the vehicle a slightly cunning, refined, and elegant appearance. In contrast, the Vito features traditional halogen headlights, which appear simpler and more down-to-earth.

The elegant small Mercedes-Benz emblem on the hood is also an exclusive feature of the V-Class.

There is another subtle difference at the front of the vehicle that is not immediately noticeable—it can only be seen by opening the engine hood:
The V260 is equipped with hydraulic valve lifters, which automatically compensate for valve clearance, while the Vito uses standard mechanical lifters.

Next, let’s shift our focus to the side profile of the vehicle. Interestingly, the Vito may have a rare advantage over the V260 in this area.
The new Vito comes with a rear window ventilation system, which helps maintain air circulation in the rear cabin.
This feature is not present in the V260, likely because it already includes a panoramic sunroof and places greater emphasis on the visual aesthetics of its chrome window trim.

From the side view, the V260L features several additions compared to the Vito on the same platform, including:

Lower side skirts

Chrome window trim

Electric sliding middle door

Roof luggage rack

Painted door handles and mirror covers

Side mirrors equipped with integrated LED turn signals

The Vito has exposed plastic door handles, whereas the V-Class features painted handles that match the body color, giving it a more premium and refined appearance.

The V260 adds LED turn signals on the side mirrors, which the Vito does not have.

The V260L has a hidden camera installed beneath the side mirrors.

Below the iconic three-pointed star logo on the V260L’s front grille, there is also a small camera installed.

Having covered the exterior, let’s step inside the cabin to experience the more significant differences between the two models.

Compared to the Vito’s simple and unpretentious design, the V260’s dashboard appears noticeably more upscale and stylish. Its ergonomic layout greatly reduces both visual and mental fatigue for the driver. The abundant sense of advanced technology creates a premium experience akin to being in an airplane cockpit.

In addition to numerous electronic safety assistance systems, the V260 also features an electronic parking brake, driver and passenger side storage panels, a central armrest with a hidden ice-making cooler, and luxurious genuine leather seats—features not found in the new Vito.

Overall, the all-plastic interior of the new Vito reflects its true positioning as a vehicle for urban logistics and commuting. Its role is somewhat similar to that of domestic vans like the Ruifeng or Jinbei Grace. In contrast, the V260 incorporates more of Mercedes-Benz’s passenger car design language. Although the material costs of these features are relatively limited, the luxurious and prestigious feeling they provide to the owner is obvious. Therefore, the V260 is more often used for business reception or family travel.

Now, let’s focus on the key point of this article and explore the lesser-known differences between the new Vito and the V260.

The biggest difference lies in their NVH configuration. What is NVH? You will understand as soon as you sit inside either vehicle. NVH stands for Noise, Vibration, and Harshness. These three factors are inseparable and commonly studied together in the context of automotive mechanical vibrations. Simply put, all tactile and auditory sensations experienced by passengers inside the car fall under the scope of NVH research.

The new Vito is positioned more towards commercial transport, so its sealing systems are minimal wherever possible. Anyone who has test-driven both models can feel the difference immediately.

Take the first example: compared to the V260, the new Vito lacks the auxiliary sealing strip along the B-pillar waistline — a black rubber strip on the vertical face of the B-pillar (clearly visible on the white V260). This strip helps improve wind noise reduction, waterproofing, and optimizes the door closing sound.

Next, looking at the sliding door area, the black new Vito also lacks the auxiliary sealing strip below the B-pillar waistline. This strip serves the same purpose as the one on the front door: it makes the door-closing sound feel heavier and more premium, while also improving road and tire noise insulation.

Finally, looking at the rear tailgate D-pillar area, the difference between the two vehicles is quite noticeable. The Vito’s sheet metal and weld spots are clearly visible, whereas the V260 is covered by a vertical plastic panel. This panel, part of the liftgate trim, serves not only to provide waterproofing and dust protection but also to conceal weld seams and enhance the overall appearance.

Additionally, there is one more detail on the roof: the new Vito even omits the black sealant strip at the rear end of the V260’s roof that covers weld seams. This clearly shows that quality lies in the details, and details determine the price. The difference in class between the two models is immediately apparent.

At this point, there seems to be no need to further discuss interior carpets or other sound and heat insulation materials, as the conclusion is clear: the V260 is positioned for business reception, while the new Vito is aimed at logistics and commuting. The more premium the vehicle, the more sealing components it has, and the less visible sheet metal there is. This is one of the main reasons behind the significant price gap between these two similarly styled vehicles from the same brand.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The V260 follows a high-end business route and its higher price is justified, while the Vito wins with its more affordable pricing. Ultimately, the choice depends on your actual needs and considerations.
