The 2025 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is now on sale. Based on the Wrangler, this double-cab pickup becomes the only model in the series following the discontinuation of the entry-level Night Eagle. It gets upgrades in configuration, safety, technology and exterior, with a price cut of AUD 4,260 and strong rock-crawling performance, but fails to address inherent flaws such as outdated platform, high fuel consumption, large turning radius and low safety rating.

Pricing & After-sales: Starting price AUD 82,990 (excluding on-road costs); optional factory extras include premium paint (AUD 1,145) and body-colored hardtop (AUD 1,950). Warranty is 5 years/100,000 km, maintenance interval 12 months/12,000 km, with capped-price service at AUD 399 per time for the first 5 services.
Configuration Upgrades: Former optional package items become standard, including under-seat locked storage, off-road rail system, auxiliary switch group, etc. Exterior gets redesigned widened grille, alloy wheels, body-colored fenders, integrated Gorilla Glass antenna, new chassis skid plates and optional tire inflation alert, plus 3 new body colors. Interior features soft-touch dashboard, Nappa leather seats (12-way power-adjustable driver seat), upgraded 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment screen and AMPS bracket. Safety adds side curtain airbags, rear seat belt reminder, etc., retaining multiple active safety functions.
Power & Performance: Equipped with 3.6L naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine (209kW/347Nm) mated to 8-speed automatic transmission, featuring full-time/part-time two-speed transfer case and front/rear differential locks for excellent off-road capability. Maximum towing capacity is 2,721kg, payload 693kg.
Strengths: Iconic exterior design with high recognition; significantly upgraded and easy-to-operate interior infotainment system; smooth and responsive power output, stable riding experience; rich off-road configurations and strong off-road capability; spacious interior.
Shortcomings: High fuel consumption of V6 engine at cruising speed over 80km/h (13.7L/100km combined), requiring frequent downshifting for optimal power; long wheelbase (3,487mm) results in large turning radius (13.6m) and 20.3-degree approach angle, poor passability on rough roads; narrow driver foot space without left footrest; towing capacity and payload below the class average.
